The land knows before we do. By early August, something has quietly shifted. The light is still long, the days still warm and yet the trees are beginning their slow letting go. Seeds are forming. The harvest is coming. This is Lammas.
What is Lammas?
Lammas falls at the midpoint between the Summer Solstice and the Autumn Equinox. One of the oldest festivals on the Celtic wheel of the year, it marks the first harvest, a moment of abundance and of beginning to release. What has ripened in you this summer? What are you ready to gather in, and what are you ready to let go?
